Census Session held October 16~

Not a lot of folks attended, so the session was just like friends sitting around having coffee and discussing current events. Christopher Welch, chairman for the Stone/Taney counties Complete Count Committee, was the speaker. Christopher is a very energetic and nice guy- he was happy to answer any questions, and those he couldn't answer he promised to let folks know when he found out. The handouts he provided included his contact information and he encouraged all to contact him with questions.

We saw a sample of the current version of the 10 questions the survey will include- they may change. One discussion we had was in reference to two of the questions- what is your race and are you Hispanic. Folks were unclear as to why Hispanic was included separately. A reason one participant gave was so it could be determined how many Spanish speaking residents there are in order to determine what needs to be published in Spanish- for example, news broadcasts, grocery labels, etc.

Our next session will be Friday, November 13- call and sign up now!

If you have questions, post them here in Comments.
